This unique gallery of timekeeping can be viewed from the tower stairs on the third floor. The public may enter the gallery on Monday,Wednesday & Friday from 11:45 am - 1:00 pm; and Saturday afternoons from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Private entry with a docent can be arranged for groups of eight or more by calling Sue Mellor at (805) 963-5023.
Behind the four faces of the tower clock visible from below resides the largest model of a weight-driven Seth Thomas tower clock. Installed in 1929, it still ticks away in its original site and condition while releasing the hammers to the bells on the quarter hour.
Surrounding the clock are marvelous murals depicting the chronicle of mankind's landmarks in timekeeping since ancient times, while above shine the exact constellations in the sky when Santa Barbara obtained its name in 1602.
